“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” – Walt Disney

My husband, Keith and I live in North Carolina where I enjoy working on my books, singing and song writing, and spending time with family and our grandsons. I came by my writing honestly, inspired by my mother, who was my first “teacher”, as well as other authors, such as Nicholas Sparks and Louis L’Amour, who was one of my dad’s favorites. As for my fiction works, I write powerful, emotionally moving stories that take the reader on a journey, and leave you inspired to dream and believe in the impossible. Quite often, my stories include romantic twists as well as time travel and/or historic elements. To me, writing is like “painting a picture” on the canvas of the reader’s mind.

Only two weeks after I had turned twenty years old, my first husband, then fiance, and I were in a terrible car accident in which I was knocked unconscious and almost lost my life. Left with a severe head injury and a fractured pelvis, I was later diagnosed with PTSD. I was in nursing school at the time, and had to drop out because I was bedridden for some time due to the tremendous amount of blood loss I suffered. I have also suffered some speech problems, since this is the part of the brain that is located where my head injury was. Although the accident pretty much derailed my career, and the psychological scars would remain long after the physical ones had healed, it is through God’s healing power in my life that I have triumphed over it all, and gone on to share my testimony, and what I’ve learned on my road to healing in the years since, in my upcoming book, “CPR For Your Faith From Beyond Death’s Door (Resuscitating the Christian Heart-Yes, Your Ship Is Coming In!)” I feel that one of the main reasons God has led me to write the book is because I have a burden for those who have suffered traumatic events such as what I went through, and those who have given up hope, and whose faith needs restoring, just as He has done for me. If this is you, then be sure to subscribe to my email so that when the book is finally out, you will be among the first to know!

I am now a mother of three great adult children, the youngest having just earned her B.A. in Psychology and is now getting ready to start on her Master’s, and three more through marriage, and we are proud of all they are working to become! I am also a grandmother of three awesome grandsons. I have also since gone on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Office Systems Technology, and although I have mainly worked in customer service/retail, my skills have contributed greatly to my writing as well as in other areas of my life. I have two fiction books out now, with more to come in the very near future!

You can find the books I have currently available via the “Books by Flossie Stewart” tab or the Home page.  If you liked the movie, “Tuck Everlasting”, which starred Sissy Spacek, then you will love my latest book, “Summer of the Rose”, first in the “Secrets of Rose River” Time Travel Trilogy. If you liked “Dances With Wolves”, then you might enjoy my first book “Mystery at Windy Mountain”, which was inspired by a late Native American friend and mentor of mine. These are available in print and eBook versions on Amazon and Barnes & Noble online. “Summer of the Rose” is also now available in hard cover on B&N. The book trailers for both books are up now! Click the cover pics on the home page to check them out!

Both of these books involve time travel and historical elements, along with a sprinkling of romantic features as well, and both of these will take you on a journey you won’t soon forget. I am currently working on other great new books that will be available soon! So check back and be sure to click to subscribe to my email so you won’t miss out!

Book reviews of books from other authors I have found inspiring are available for you to check out, via the Flo’s Reading Room: Book Reviews tab. You’ll see that the first one is my review of Mary McDonough’s book, “Lessons From the Mountain: What I Learned From Erin Walton”. I had the great honor of meeting Mary at one of her book signings for the book. Mary also has two great fiction books out. For more on that, see my review of “Lessons…”, or you can visit her at http://www.marymcdonough.com/.

When I’m not writing, my husband and I also enjoy trips to the beach and to the mountains, sitting out by a good campfire playing my Native American flute, or just sitting at home curling up on the couch together with a good movie. I have also met Nicholas Sparks at one of his book signings, and I’m a firm believer that, “if you can dream it, you can do it”!

Yes, that’s been a few years, that cute little baby’s 9 years old now, and his mom just earned her B.A. in Psychology, and is set to begin working on her Master’s in Fall 2017!

As Walt Disney himself said, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them”. One of my favorite bible verses is Philippians 4:13, which my mother made us recite every time she caught us saying, “I can’t”. I am doing some “remodeling” of the site right now, and working on some freebies for you to download, etc, so check back for those and more of my exciting novels, coming soon, and again, thanks for stopping by!
